Let's Go Dodgers!
While at our Heyler Harvest Festival on Sunday, we saw many neighbors wearing their LA Dodgers baseball hats, relishing in the recent win that will take the team to the World Series to battle it out against the Boston Red Sox.
At one point a couple of colleagues fought it out (in a very good natured way) about who is going to win. One is a diehard Red Sox fan, the other a born-and-raised Los Angeles native, thus a Dodgers fan. While eavesdropping on the conversation, one couldn't help but smile—this is just another reason to love this city.
Los Angeles is a beautiful melting pot of neighbors from all over the country and world. Every year thousands of people move into this city, some Yankee fans, some Red Sox fans, others from out of the country who still don't quite get the love of baseball, but they will...
Some fun facts about the Dodgers and its surrounding neighborhood:
- The Dodgers originated in Brooklyn in 1883 and moved to Los Angeles in 1958, much to the chagrin of New Yorkers.
- Dodgers Stadium opened in 1962, cost $23 million to build, and is located in Elysian Park.
- The most recent U.S. Census was in 2008 and recorded a population of 2,600+ residents.
- Current homes/condos for sale in the area range between $450,000-$535,000.
